The eightfold kundli match of North-Indian tradition, from the two birth Moons
Guna Milan scores a prospective match on eight kootas worth 36 points in all — Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot and Nadi — every one computed from the two people's sidereal Moon positions. It is the standard pre-marriage computation of North-Indian practice. The classical scoring tables are asymmetric (the axes are conventionally called groom and bride), and for two of the kootas the intermediate values genuinely differ between classical sources.
What it measures
Eight table lookups on the two Moons' nakshatras and signs, summed to 36. Nadi (8) and Bhakoot (7) weigh heaviest; a same-nadi match scores zero on that koota — the classical bar.

The Yoni friendship grades and cross-group Vashya values vary between classical sources
Where the sources agree (same yoni 4, the seven sworn-enemy pairs 0, same vashya 2) the score is exact; where they conflict, the neutral middle value is scored and the row says so.
