Planetary returns & the Saturn return
The revolution chart generalised to any planet; the popular 'Saturn return' idea is recent
The solar-return method extends to any planet: the Saturn return near ages 29–30 and 58–59, the Jupiter return every twelve years. The 'Saturn return' as a popular life-stage idea is recent — the phrase was title-worthy for astrological publishers by the mid-1980s.
What it measures
Every crossing of the transiting planet over its natal longitude. Because a planet stations and turns retrograde near its natal degree, the return can perfect three times — direct, retrograde, direct — for a substantial minority of charts (roughly a third for Saturn); most perfect only once, and it never perfects exactly twice.
