Virgo is the harvest: mutable earth at summer's end, when what grew must be sorted, graded and stored. Mercury both rules and is exalted here — the only planet the tradition honours twice in one sign — and in earth its quickness becomes craft: analysis in the service of use. Nothing about Virgo is vague; its materials are the particular, the measurable, the improvable.
